Edit Tab
The edit tab allows authorized users to edit a page by opening the content in a WYSIWYG Editor.

It also provides options for adding or removing attachments from the page.

in SamePage 3.6. Comparison of versions of the page can now be done even while on the edit tab. Click on the 'Action' tab on the toolbar and choose the 'Compare Versions' tab.

Note: Drafts of the page can now be compared to previously saved versions of the page through the 'Compare Versions' tab. For more information click here.

If the message "You are not allowed to edit this page" appears, it means that the user does not have permission to edit the current page

The edit tab allows the user to specify the title of the page and a short text-only description.

It also allows the user to tag the page with one or more tags so the pages can be categorized based on tags.

The drop-down for tags automatically gets populated based on existing tags in the current project.

Note :Tags were referred to as Topics in all SamePage versions before 3.3

The 'Delete'  link allows a user to delete the current page.
This functionality appears only after the page has been saved once.
Click on 'Delete' and SamePage will display a list of pages that are linked to the page chosen for deletion.

At this point, the user can either proceed with deletion, or can cancel the operation.A page will not be permanently deleted if it has any back links.

So to delete a page permanently, make sure that the page is not linked to any page or referenced in any other page.

The 'Move'  link allows the user to move the page to any project within the domain and simultaneously assign it a parent.

This functionality appears only after the page has been saved once.

Click on 'Move' link and the system displays a list of projects within the domain.

Click on any project name and a pop up screen comes up asking if the move is to be done, at which point the user can either confirm or cancel.

The 'Permissions  link allows the page owner to control user access for that particular page .
This functionality appears only after the page has been saved once.
For more details on changing permissions, please refer to the
permissions page.

Note: The Delete, Move and Permissions options are also available on the toolbar under 'Actions'. This is to enable the users to use these features without having to open the page in edit mode. These options are available only for users with edit permission.

The choose template functionality allows the user to choose from existing templates to populate content on your page.

The 'Mark page as template' functionality allows a user to define any page as a template by clicking on the check box next to it.

Once the box is checked, the template will then appear in the template list for that project.

Note:Starting from SamePage 3.4, the project name, description and content will now support multi lingual material.

The WYSIWYG editor allows the user to edit the contents of the current page without needing to know HTML or wiki syntax.
Click on the  icon on the  WYSIWYG toolbar to get help on the WYSIWYG editor.
The editor can be opened in basic or advanced modes.
The mode can be changed from basic to advanced and vice versa by clicking on the    and  symbols respectively that can be found at the right most corner of the editor.

The edit tab works the same way for news, thread or ticket as it works for pages.
The edit tab for tickets provides two more fields - severity and status to qualify the ticket.

Note: Threads and Tickets cannot be modified after initial creation .

The reason for not allowing the edit is that once other users start posting comments  to the thread/ticket , if the original content is changed.

The suggested action is to post a new comment on that thread/ticket that highlights the changes to the original content.

Locking and unlocking a page
SamePage locks a page when the page is open for editing. The page remains in a locked state till it is saved or the changes are canceled. If the page content is changed and the changes have been saved as a draft then the page still stays locked. This means that only the person who locked the page will be able to open the page again in edit mode. Other users will be able to only view the page but the changes made and saved as draft will not appear while viewing the page.
To unlock the page, the user should open the page in edit mode. The page will be located under My Draft pages when the user signs in. Once opened in edit mode either save the page or cancel changes. This will unlock the page to be edited by other users.
