Manage Blog Members

Users can be assigned permission to either post to a blog or sumbit a post for review.

The functionality enables a group of people to post to one blog . Team blogging is very useful especially in marketing blogs or developer blogs where the entire team can contribute to the blog.

 

Other users can be assigned various levels of permissions by the blog owner and/or the administrator. There are four different user levels and permissions that can be assigned to users by the blog owner or administrator.

These membership level indicates only write permissions to blogs . The different write permission levels are as follows

  • Administrator  : Blog administrators can post to a blog and also have access to the settings panel and can change permission of other users.
  • Member  : These users are allowed to post to the blog. They however so not have access to the settings panel and cannot alter other user permissions.
  • Restricted Member  :  Restricted members can create a post and then submit it for review. It will be published by the administrator if its been approved..
  • Non Member  : This section of users are not members of the blog.

 Note: A blog can have multiple administrators but can have just one owner.

 

To assign permissions to other users click on the 'Manage Blog Users' link on the 'Blog Settings' page.A Pop up window similar to the attached screen shot will open.

 

 

Users can be seen based on their permissions for the blog. The above given screen shot shows a list of non members. You may choose to see a list of members, restricted members, non members or administrator. To give a non members any other user permission. Click on the  icon under that permission to convert it to a  mark. Click on 'Save ' to save the permission changes.

For example from the above screen shot, if the user 'asmith' is to be given member privileges, then click on the  icon under the 'Member' row for user asmith to convert it to a  icon. Click on 'Save' to save the permission change. Now when you choose to the 'Members' option in the 'Show Only' field and asmith will appear in the members list.

 

Similarly to alter user privileges, click on the  icon under the permission that is to be granted to convert it to a  icon and click on 'Save.'

Users can also be searched by first name, last name, username or email id.
