New Project

The 'New Project' screen allows users to create a new project.
The user creating the new project becomes the project owner and the project administrator.

The project name must be unique within that domain(On Demand) or instance(On Premises). The project name can have spaces but no control characters.
Valid project names cannot have the following special characters:
\ / " |  ^  < > +.
Starting from SamePage 3.4, the following characters can be used in project names:
% $ # : ! ?

Note: Starting from  SamePage 3.4., the project name, description and content will now support multi lingual material.

The users have an option of importing a project that has been exported from another instance of the SamePage server. Importing can be done only when creating a new project. Click on the import new project option and select a project to be imported from your local machine.

Note: A project has to be exported first before it can be imported to another project or instance. For more information about exporting a project see Project Administration

The 'Project Description' is a brief description of the project. The name and description of the project can be seen on the projects page

Access permissions for the project can be separately specified for registered users (logged-in users) and anonymous users (guests) :

Access permissions can be set to one of the following options:

  • None - Users cannot access the project at all.
  • Read - Users can only read the pages of the project.
  • Read + Moderated Comment - Users can read and comment on the pages of the project. However these comments are subject to approval by the page owner/project  administrators.
  • Read + Comment - Users can read and comment on the pages of the project.
  • Read + Comment + Edit - Users can read, comment and edit the pages of the project.

Note: Project members always get the highest level of permission ie. Read + Comment + Edit on all pages of the project unless it is overridden at a page level by the page owner.
