The 3.3 release is a minor version release of SamePage that incorporates MySQL  database support,  analytics,  open-office integration and a number of new features and enhancements requested by our customers. It also offers a number of new plugins and more flexibility for on-premise customers.

Following are the new features/changes introduced in this version:

Support for MySQL database(beta) - With this release, we have started supporting MySQL for the database layer apart from Oracle. Customers doing a fresh install can now choose to use MySQL as the database for SamePage. The MySQL version is a beta release that supports all features of the product, except Analytics and Blog, which will be bundled in the next release.

Analytics - In version 3.3, we introduce the Analytics feature, that allows users to get a quick view of the most popular (most viewed) and most active (most edited) Pages of the Project. This feature is accessible through the Analytics option of the Toolbar.Additionally, SamePage Administrators also get a view of the most popular projects through the System Administration interface.

Export/Import of MS Word -  While previous versions of SamePage allowed the copy-paste of content from MS-Word, from release 3.3 onwards you get the capability of importing a Word document (with images etc) into a page as well as exporting a page as an MS Word document. The on-premise version of SamePage requires Open Office to be installed on the server for the Import from Word functionality to work.

Tags and Tag Clouds - The Topics functionality has been renamed as Tags.Further, SamePage now allows tags for a page to be specified directly in the View tab without having to go into the Editor. The Browse Tags page (was called Browse Topics) also displays a Tag Cloud that gives a quick visual representation of the how the pages in the project are tagged.

Configurable Project caption - This is a simple but powerful option added in release 3.3. Customers running the on-premise edition of SamePage can choose to rename the term "Project" with a term more appropriate for their audience and usage. E.g. Wiki, Workspace, Space, Team, Group, Community etc. This will get reflected in all screens and toolbars automatically.

Alerts functionality - A new Alerts funtionality is introduced that allows SamePage administrators to create a system-wide alert for all SamePage users. This alert appears prominently at the top of the Projects page and can be used for notifying down-times, upgrades, new features etc. This functionality is also available for Domain Administrators (On-Demand) to notify all users in their domain.

Save Project as PDF - While previous versions of SamePage allowed saving a page as a PDF document, from release 3.3 onwards you can download the entire Project with all Pages as a single PDF document along with table of contents. This feature will be extremely useful for wiki-based documentation projects.

Move functionality enhancement - The Page Move functionality has been further enhanced providing users the option to move the page with or without its child pages . This is  a significant enhancement that allows you to move an entire section of  a project to a different project with a single click. The UI has been enhanced merging the Move and Change Parent buttons into a single operation that allows a Page to be moved within or outside the Project.

Add User from LDAP - This is a functionality requested by some of our on-premise customers. Project administrators can directly add a user from the LDAP into their project without the intervention of the SamePage Administrator.

Installer Enhancements - The installer for Windows has been further enhanced to automatically check for java version if it exists, provide the option to choose a bundled JRE and specify minimum and maximum memory for the JVM. This further simplifies the task of on-premise installation.

New Plugins
and Improved Plugin UI- As a part of our efforts to constantly increase the number of out-of-the-box plugins, this release of SamePage comes bundled with plugins for GoogleCalendar and 30BoxesCalendar. The WYSIWYG editor also provides the user a better interface for inserting plugins without needing to remember any plugin syntax.

UI and Usability Enhancements - You will notice a number of UI enhancements in this release.
  • Page Actions have been  re-organized and consolidated under Actions in the Toolbar. Also a number of page actions like Copy, Move and Delete are available without having to click on Edit.
  • UI has been re-configured to give greater flexibility to create custom themes. The entire header can be  customized with minimal changes to just the wiki_header.html.
  • The Project Dashboard has been renamed as Project Administration to avoid confusion with the Analytics function.
  • The Projects page now provides the option to filter the list of projects alphabetically.
  • Clicking on New Page while you are a particular Page, automatically creates the new Page as a child Page of the current Page. This avoids the confusion between the New Page and New Child Page.
  • While uploading images into a Page, users will now have the option to insert just the thumbnail of the image instead of the entire image.
  • The on-premise SamePage version for Tomcat comes bundled  with a default web application. So users need not type in "/cm" in the URL to access the application.

Bug Fixes - This version of SamePage fixes a number of minor/major bugs reported by users  as well as discovered  by our QA team.
