These are general upgrade instructions to upgrade your installed version of eTouch Samepage to the latest version from this Downloads site.
We recommend that you get in touch with eTouch SamePage Support Team before performing an upgrade on your production set-up.
- Please take a back up of the file system (starting from the folder where SamePage is installed). Also take an export of the database in Oracle.
- Download the latest release to which you want to upgrade from the Binary Download page. Please note that for an upgrade you will always have to download the zip file (even for Windows) .Rename the downloaded samepage_x_x_x_x_x.zip to samepage.zip
- For Windows, set environment variable SAMEPAGE_HOME to point to the folder where SamePage is installed. E.g. C:\SamePage
- Copy the zip file and applynew.cmd (applyNew.sh for Unix) into a temporary folder. For Windows, make sure this temporary folder is in the same drive as SAMEPAGE_HOME and does not have spaces in the path.
- Shutdown Tomcat. For Windows, you need to stop the eTouch SamePage service.
- Delete all files/folders under work and temp folders under SAMEPAGE_HOME/tomcat.
- Run the database script X_to_Y.sql at SQL Plus prompt where X is the version from which you are upgrading (exact or just higher) and Y is the version to which you are upgrading (exact or just lower). Since every release of SamePage does not involve a DB upgrade, the X and Y in the example may not match exactly to your current or upgraded release. For instructions on running SQL scripts, please click here. For example, if you are upgrading from v3.4.2.0.119 to v3.5.0.0.2, you will need to run the script upgrade_oracle_3.4.2.0.119-to-3.5.0.0.2.sql for Oracle and upgrade_mysql_3.4.2.0.119-to-3.5.0.0.2.sql for MySql.
- To choose the correct SQL scripts for upgrading to the version you choose, go to the SQL for upgrading to to different versions of SamePage page.
- Run applyNew.cmd or applyNew.sh as applicable. In case of Unix, remember to run chmod on applyNew.sh to give it execute permissions. Also run "dos2unix" on applyNew.sh if your shell is not able to recognize the file name. In case of Unix, the script will prompt you for the installation folder name.
- Start Tomcat. For Windows, you need to start the eTouch SamePage service. Open the SamePage URL from a browser and verify new version in the SamePage footer.
- If the particular release of SamePage involves UI changes to the there, you would need to republish all projects. This can be done by SamePage Administrator by going into System Administration -> Republish. Release 3.5.0.0.2 involves UI changes and you would need to republish all projects for the UI changes to get reflected.
